Be a Counselor In Training (CIT)

CITs (counselors in training) are an invaluable component to our summer camp experience. Serving as a CIT is a great way to gain valuable work experience and “try out” being a staff member.

  • We still have openings for this upcoming summer in the Elementary 2 and Middler sessions.
  • CITs must be high school graduates or a minimum of 18 years old.

APPLY FOR SUMMER STAFF

Serving as a Camp McDowell Summer Staff member is very fun and very hard. It involves early mornings and late nights, hot days and loud groups, being a leader and being a friend. It is all about teamwork and living as a model of sacramental ministry, where outward and visible actions are a sign of an inward and spiritual grace.

Every staff member is invited and expected to participate fully in the life of the community. Whatever the job, all staff positions are valued and important parts of the team. The norm is fulfilling one’s specific role…and then some. The whole staff works together attending to the many details that make summer camp happen in the context of Christian community.

BRING BOOKS

Bring books to donate when you come to camp! This annual book-drive has been a ministry since 2006. Make a difference and a BIG impact by helping us collect as many gently used or new books for children and teens as possible to be distributed in the Black Belt region of Alabama. Drop them off at The Camp Store anytime!

Send Care Package to a Scholarship Camper

Does your camper love getting mail while they are at camp? You could provide that same experience of excitement for other campers by sending a care package to a Scholarship Camper! This is a great way to give back to camp and make sure that every camper gets a little bit of extra care during their time at camp.

Provide a Meal to Summer Staff

Looking for a way to show the summer staff some love? Consider providing an end-of-session meal! At the end of each session, summer staff gather together with a lunch brought in from outside of camp to give our fantastic Kitchen Staff a break. We hope you will consider this as a way to give to camp and support our fantastic staff.
